Parish Commissions & Ministries

St. Bede Parish is a welcoming spiritual community where sacraments, education and evangelization lead us to Jesus Christ. Our parish ministries consist of four commissions under a Parish Pastoral Council. The four commissions are: Education, Human Concerns, Parish Life, and Spiritual Life. Within each of these four commissions there are many individual ministries which make up the St. Bede Parish Faith Community.

Many parishioners from the parish volunteer their time and talent in these ministries and are always looking for additional help. Should you wish the services of a member of one of these ministries or are interested in serving on one or more of them, please contact a member of the Parish Staff  and they will contact you.

Music is an integral part of our liturgy. Liturgy is often defined as “the work of the people,” and liturgical music is “prayer in song.” Full participation in the liturgy includes both the music and the spoken parts of the Mass. The purpose of the music ministry is to give God glory and praise through music and to assist the assembly in participating through song. In order to help lead our congregation each week, we need the help of those individuals to whom God has given musical gifts. If interested, contact Gina >buckley_me@comcast.net

The St. Bede Choir welcomes adults, 18 years or older, who wish to sing praise at the 9:00 a.m. Sunday Mass, Christmas Eve 10:30 p.m. Mass, Holy Week Services, Easter Vigil and Easter morning Masses. The choir rehearses Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Qualifications - ability to read music/sight sing is encouraged but not required. If interested, contact Gina

The term cantor in Christian practice dates from about the 5th Century and referred to the person who sang the psalms. In the modern Roman Rite, the cantor is a trained and competent soloist who proclaims the psalms and leads the congregation in common sacred song and responsorial singing. This ministry is open to adults and young people from 7th grade and up. If you feel that you are called to this ministry, please contact Gina >buckley_me@comcast.net

Participating in the liturgy makes children active members of the Body of Christ and good role models. The choir is open to 3rd through 8th grade. Qualifications: Students must be able to read English proficiently at a 2nd grade level. No experience necessary. Contact Gina >buckley_me@comcast.net

This very important ministry provides music, upon request, for funeral liturgies at St. Bede Church, helping to “console and uplift the mourners while, at the same time, uniting the assembly in faith and love.”(Sing to the Lord 246) Due to the unpredictability of such events, members of this group should have a fairly flexible daytime schedule, allowing them to participate on short notice whenever they are called upon to serve. Rehearsals as needed. Must be 18 years of age or older. The ability to read music/sight sing is recommended but not required. If interested, contact Gina >buckley_me@comcast.net
