Bede Parish Community Ministries
Spiritual Life Commission
Liturgy Planning Team
A group with responsibility for planning all parish,
seasonal, weekly and occasional liturgies.
Liturgy Committee
A broad-based group that serves as a consultation body for the
implementation of the seasonal, weekly and occasional liturgies as envisioned by
the Planning Team.
Children/Adult Choir
This musical ensemble consists of primary & High School students
and adults who wish to provide musical leadership within the weekly assembly and
for special events.
Children’s Liturgy Committee
The group works with the parish liturgist in preparing the
special monthly Sunday liturgy and other occasional events based on a more
active participation for our parish children.
Ushers
Men and women interested in welcoming, serving and assisting our
parish members during Church services.
Altar Servers
Students from St. Bede School and Religious Education who are in grades 4
through 8, as well as those servers who have graduated and still wish to serve.
Servers assist the celebrant at each of the liturgies held at St. Bede
throughout the year.
Lectors
Lectors introduce the celebrant and songs at mass, read the 1st and 2nd
scriptural readings, the petitions and parish
announcements at Mass on Sundays, Holy Days and Holidays.
Sacristans
Sacristans care for the church altars, sanctuary and sacristy on a weekly basis.
Bereavement Ministry
The ministry team is devoted in helping parishioners cope with the loss of a
loved one; they meet with the bereaving family, help them through the wake
service, and assist in
preparing the funeral liturgy.
Eucharistic Ministry
Eucharistic Ministers serve the parish by assisting in the
distribution of the Eucharist at Sunday and Holiday
Masses at St. Bede.
Environment/Art
Team members utilize their creative talents for
decorating the church in conjunction with the liturgical
year and/or special events.
Parish Missions
A committee is established to work with the pastor in organizing all aspects of
the mission and corresponding liturgies.
Catholic Education Commission
School Advisory Board (SAB)
The SAB is an advisory board to St. Bede School. The
board is made up of five individuals. While the board is purely advisory in its
capacity, it works closely with the principal and pastor to help establish
budgets, tuitions,
by-laws, etc.
St. Bede Catholic School
St. Bede School is a teaching ministry of our parish in which the children from
our parish receive a daily immersion in a catholic Christian atmosphere where
strong academics, sound discipline, self-respect and the faith and moral
teachings of the church permeate the environment.
Extended Day Program (EDP)
EDP is a before and after school program for the children in grades kindergarten
thru eighth that attend St. Bede School. The program is held only on the
days that school is in session. Hours are from 6:00 a.m. until the
start of school
in the morning, and from school dismissal in the afternoon until 6:00 p.m.
Religious Education Advisory Board (REAB)
The REAB is an advisory board to Religious Education. The board is made up of
five individuals. While the board is purely advisory in its capacity, it works
closely with the coordinator of RE and pastor to help establish budgets,
tuitions, by-laws, etc.
Religious Education
St. Bede's Religious Education
Program strives to promote Catholic teachings for students that attend
non-Parochial schools. The classes support pre-kindergarten through eighth grade
religious training and High School Confirmation training.
Classes for students in grades
pre-kindergarten through sixth grade are held on the first three Sundays of each
month from 8:30AM till 10:00AM, immediately followed by attendance at the
10:00AM Mass. Students in grades seventh and eighth are held on the second and
third Sundays of each month. Beside religious classes students are also
responsible for monthly service projects as part of the required training for
the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Wednesday night classes are held
from 6:30PM to 8:00PM for first through eighth graders along with special classes for
high school students who
have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
RCIA is a process by which adults choose to become full members of the Catholic
Faith through the Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
Adult Bible Study
The group desires to share God’s word by simply gathering to read the bible
together and discuss the meaning of the text itself.
Baptism Ministry
The Baptism Ministry team helps prepare parents and godparents for the baptism
of their children.
Engaged Ministry
A ministry devoted to the engaged couple who are planning their wedding at St.
Bede.
Marriage & Family Ministry
A ministry devoted in finding ways to strengthen and enhance already healthy
married and family life.
Divorce Ministry
Mission statement is to help the "single again" gain a perspective on their
current life status through a supportive environment; to provide knowledge which
promotes
self-awareness of the life changes effectuated through the loss of their partner
and to foster spirituality, group and personal growth.
Parents’ Association
The St. Bede Parents’ Association represents the school as a critical part of
the Parish Fundraising Committee by organizing events that support the parish
financial needs.
Athletic Association
St. Bede Athletic Association offers girls and boys volleyball and basketball,
pom-poms, cheerleading, as well as track for students grades 4 through 8.
Youth Ministry
The Ministry reaches out to high school teens and junior high students in the
parish community. Activities and events are planned out by the Youth Ministry
Committee and teens.
Evangelization
This team works at defining and implementing ways to bring the word of God not
only to the St. Bede Parish families, but to the surrounding community.
Human Concerns Commission
St. Vincent de Paul
St. Vincent de Paul Society group provides
food and assistance to those who throughout the community reach out for help.
Resources come directly from St. Bede parishioners.
Respect Life
The Mission of the Respect Life Program is to proclaim, by word and action, the
teachings of Jesus Christ on the respect for the dignity of each human being,
from conception to natural death.
Ministers of Care
Ministry provides a weekly Eucharistic
service to residents of retirement communities and other requested nursing homes
and communion to the homebound.
Parish Life Commission
Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus are a Brotherhood of practicing catholic men from St.
Bede Parish and other surrounding parishes. Their main objectives are giving assistance to the mentally
challenged and to those in distress.
Women’s Club
The main purpose of this organization
is to promote Christian living and service in St. Bede Parish; foster the
spiritual development of the women of the parish.
Fundraising Committee
The goal of the committee is to
develop and oversee major fundraising events within the Parish Community.
Welcome Committee The Welcome Committee acts as a friendly vehicle for
the distribution of information regarding the parish and its ministries to new and existing parishioners.
Finance Council This committee is responsible for the financial stability of the entire parish
community.
Senior’s Ministry Members of the group gather each month
for conversation, fun and to share a meal. Meetings are held on the 2nd Tuesday
of the month at 11:00 a.m. in Coleman Hall. Day trips are planned as well as
speakers of interest.
